You guys know I love vinyl (I've collected about 15,000 LPs over the last few decades). I read the quote above just before meeting Jim Pendleton (owner of AIVS) at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. After talking for some time, Jim sent me home with a few bottles to try.

Well, after I tried it, my records were quieter than they had ever been. Pitch black background, more space around the instruments, and more details than I had ever heard on my most precious recordings. It was a night and day difference. The products work by using enzyme compounds to effectively, but gently, dissolve record grunge, protein-based contaminants, bacterial growth, and record pressing release compounds. Everybody knows these contaminants cause noisy playback and can even lead to permanent damage to the record. AIVS formulas are mixed using ultra-pure, laboratory grade components, including even the the water.  The ultra-pure water is more that 50 times purer than distilled water, and is used in all of our record cleaning products. None of our products contain any type of detergent or lubricant which can affect sound and can also trap contaminants on the record.

There are 2 cleaners. First is 3 step ultimate cleaning kit, next is a one-step cleaner. Let me tell you about them both. 3 step cleaning for the true connoisseur of clean records.

Step one: Enzymatic formula.

This loosens and dissolves a wide range of contaminants, including protein-based, organic, and release compounds. Used as an initial cleaner or a soak, the Enzymatic Formula is most effective when the record’s surface is completely coated with a film of the product and light brushing and agitation of the product is performed.

Step two: Super Cleaner. The enzymes in the Super Cleaner Formula targets specific contaminants not addressed by the Enzymatic Formula. The Super Cleaner Formula resists the reattaching of contaminants to the record and causes these dissolved contaminants to float to the top of the fluid layer where you can vacuum them right off.

This formula contains a small amount of laboratory-grade Isopropanol to perform a specific cleaning interaction with the enzyme content.  Boy, oh boy does it work! (Note: If you want to clean shellac records, like old 78s, use Premium Archivist Formula, which has no Isopropyl alcohol, for step two because alcohol will melt shellac. You can choose this option at checkout if needed.)

Step 3: Pure water

Ultra-Pure Water is used to rinse the record to remove any last traces of contaminants. The end result are records that are cleaner and quieter than they’ve ever been.  I know a 3 step process is more time consuming than a one step cleaner, but it is worth the extra effort. Trust me on this, I've cleaned thousands and thousands of LPs over the years and I have found nothing that performs this good.
